Here's some good old American ignorance for you.
I didn't know until last night that My Country, 'Tis of Thee, a song we sang at every elementary school assembly after pledging allegiance to the American flag, is actually to the tune of God Save the Queen, commonly used as the British national anthem.
Why didn't our teachers ever mention this?!

USA vs. Canada
That was one intense hockey game! The US could not have pulled it off without the wall that was Ryan Miller. Man, I miss hockey...

Phew, for a minute there, I lost myself...
Driving home yesterday from a long day at work in standstill traffic, I decide to put on Radiohead's OK Computer.
More than 10 years later, and it still plays like a dark revelation. Every now and then, it's good to hear real music again.
(and yes, it's scary that my commute lasted the entire album...)

Vancouver 2010
Yeah, I know the Olympics are all about competitive sports channelling the human spirit and hope and world unity and all sorts of good stuff.

Expectations
Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of my favorite cartoon shows, and as such, I had a feeling the live-action movie would suck.
First of all, Avatar: The Movie with Blue People stole the namesake away. Talk about marketing confusion.
Second, despite being a show where all the main characters practice a specific form of Chinese martial arts, not one of the actors is Asian.
Third, most translations of animation into live action don't work. At all.
But then:
And the spot last night:
So far so good. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
