Summer Days

Life these past few weeks has been a blur of work, dog, work, tai chi, work.

August is traditionally when everyone takes vacation, though. So hopefully less work in the upcoming month.

There are some parts of summer I'm enjoying at least - fresh NJ tomatoes, new season of Mad Men, fireflies at dusk...

Happy Home

After a few rough nights of whining and pawing and crate shaking and completely traumatized cat, we finally figured out the bedroom situation.

One side is Mona with her bed and toys.

One side is Killer with her food and access to the rest of the house.

Our bed, in conjunction with a wooden barrier, divides the room.

The funny thing is, the cat is the one who doesn't get along with the dog. Mona appears pretty indifferent about that fuzzy thing which curls up on the pillow every night. Killer, however, is kind of disgusted and terrified at the same time.

But last night, there was peace!

Mona!

Today we took the plunge and brought home Mona, a dark brindle female greyhound!
(Better pictures to come - right now we have a dog to acclimate!)

There's just something about that typeset which brings back fond university memories...

American History

One perk of the Independence Day holiday: TV channels air all sorts of cool shows about our country. I love when they dig into a particular aspect of history, like the 1812 War or National Parks.
